Adjusting Brew Pressure on the Rocket Appartamento

Hello, this is a short guide on how to
adjust the brew pressure of a Rocket Appartamento espresso machine. I’ve found that there is quite a bit of misinformation online about how to do this exactly. And one of the things you often see is people recommending adjusting the “pressure stat,” which is the part on the top left of the machine, and on top there is this little screw. This only makes sense
if you want to adjust the *steam* pressure and the *boiler* pressure; it has *no* effect on the actual brew pressure leaving the group head. To do that, you actually need to adjust the
OPV, or “overpressure valve,” shown here. Fortunately, adjusting it is fairly easy.

All you need to do is take a wrench and adjust the smallest nut at the very bottom
of this brass valve. Here I have my wrench, and we’re going to attach it to the nut at the bottom of the valve. To reduce the pressure, turn it to the
left, so I’m reducing it here. I’m turning it to the left ... I found that it takes quite a lot of turning to make a significant change, so this small change here probably amounts to about a tenth or maybe a fifth of a bar. To reduce my pressure
from 13 to 10, I probably had to turn this two or three full turns. So just take your time, go slowly, test your changes, and then you should be able to get the group pressure to where you want it. I hope that was helpful... Thanks!
